Well I'm am trying another LFS this morning. I'm pretty sure I can get at least two of the things here.

It's referring to the next steps of the tank.

I also added some hairgrass offshoots to the tank.

milkyboy,

If your last question is in reference to the Anubias then I would say it is either Nana or Barteri.

If the question refers to something else then I don't understand it .

*UPDATE*

The betta has gone back to her friend and finally some good news. This morning I found java moss and glass shrimp! Although one of the shrimp died on the journey home

I couldn't get a picture of the shrimp but I got a picture of the rock now with moss.

A Betta has invaded the tank!!

My sister was asked to look after her friends betta but then she overfed it so I put it in the tank and now its happier.

Will it help to cycle my tank quicker?

milkyboy,

That's a nice Anubias, I would guess it is a Barteri, right?

I would make this plant my centerpiece, or maybe add another one (or two) of the same kind to make it the center group. I would sugggest that all other plants are lower and accomodate this piece/group. If available, Anubias Nana Petite planted around this section would give it a nice bushy appearance.

*Update*

I got the anubias today. Still no java moss. The fish and shrimp will be about another 2-3 weeks.

sunlight???

How much sunlight?

The lamp will make everything grow towards that spot, and I bet you it is not a strong light on top of it all.

Sunlight is unpredictable, clouds and bright sun will bring daily, heck hourly changes in your exposure.

If you have the sun shine on the tank for too long you will most likely spend your days fighting algae. Too short and growth will be limited, at best.

I can't believe it, another store and nothing!

This is stuff that they most stores usually have, well they have until you need it.

The lamp and sunlight should work as lighting shouldn't they?

milkyboy,

Have you been at the LFS and got some stuff?

If there is not enough space for a light fixture, then what is your vision on how to light the tank? Just curious.

I'm sorry but it's time for another log. I am setting up a new tank for my dining room, its a 28L(7gal) so I thought, why not?(the log)

Any way, I can't post pics now coz I'm in a rush and so I'll do it when I get back.

It's gonna have plants in(not sure what type), tetras and glass shrimp.

Would sand be a suitable substrate?

Everyone is doing small tanks! Well maybe not everyone but I want to do one too. Maybe a 5.5 gallon betta home. Have fun with it. I can't wait to see what is next.

Oh, sorry

I hope the current light won't be permanant as it is my bedside lamp and I want it back I will go to the shops soon and look for a more suitable replacement. However there is not enough room for a fish tank light.

milkyboy,

Well, I personally would not hang a 100W heater in this tank, but maybe this is just me. I would worry that even a little maladjustment might create chaos. I hope somebody else reads this as well and gives us his/her 2 cents about it. If not, maybe you want to create a new thread where you ask specifically about the heater (if you care).

You didn’t answer my lighting question though. Is the current light going to be the permanent light for the tank?

Eek, the heater is 100W. But when switched to its lowest setting the water remains at 26degrees celsius

I just went to four LFS's and none had glass shrimp, java moss or anubias! I'll have to wait till next week unless I can get to another aquarium this weekend or tommorrow. Actually the one I can go to tommorrow will almost defiantely have at least two of these.

milkyboy,

How many watts is that heater that you have in there. All you would need is a max of 35W (I think they don’t come in that value though) but you might be just fine with a 25W unit. Best would be one that is fully submersible, like the Visi-Therm.

Also, is this going to be the main tank lighting? That might become a problem. Tell me more about it.

Ok.

Tommorrow I am going to my LFS to look at plants and fish and see what's available. Do I need to wait for the tank to start cycling with plants or is it just fish?

Im off to bed.
