Hey guys I got anarcharis almost 2 weeks ago.

I have had it in my tank, and it has been growing (I already pruned some to make a new bunch)

But it still isnt growing any roots yet.

The stems are kinda black, and the bottoms are a little chewed up from the clown loaches, but i still havent seen any roots yet.

WHat should I do to get them to start growing roots so I can plant them?

Thanks

Anacharis is one of the first plants I kept and one I've had the best luck with. I don't wait for roots. When I want to replant I trim a section, carefully remove the leaves that will be under the substrate, bunch it together, and plant.

The entire back of my 10g Endler's tank is planted bunches of anacharis. I have to trim weekly. It does get roots, as you can see in this picture they often develop higher in the plant. I like the look, almost jungle-like.

This is my 75g and please disregard the always hungry, silly looking fish That is actually one piece of floating anacharis; when last measured it was almost 8' long

Plant it, it will grow roots.

Build up the substrate around them to anchor it.

After I posted this, i noticed that there is 1 root in the middle of the plant.

Im in the process of removing all of my live plants.

Should I just cut the bottoms off and plant it where the roots are comming out?

Dont cut it, just plant it.

It's trying to root, by cutting you're putting stress on the plant.

Plant first, trim later if the plants need it.
