	aponogeton bulbs
Sin in Style Mega Fish Posts: 1323 Kudos: 1119 Votes: 165 Registered: 03-Dec-2003	how shoudl these be planted? the bulbs float so is it ok to bury them almost completly? will they die if they are coverd completly? guesstimate on time till i see buds?

I just let them sit in the tank until they sprouted then once they had roods I planted them like I would any other plant. That was almost 2 months ago and they are all doing very well. They should start to sprout in a few days, some did take almost 2 weeks before they got going so just be patient.

Falstaf Fish Addict Posts: 785 Kudos: 1211 Votes: 196 Registered: 12-Feb-2004	Just leave them floating in your tank, as soon as the bulb opens and starts sucking water they will sink and then start to spout. Once they start to do so, burry the bulb halfway into your substrate it's important that you know the right place in advance because once they start developing roots, they don't like to be moved, if you do so they will melt. They will come back again, but it's like starting all over again.

clownloachfan Fish Addict Posts: 660 Kudos: 850 Votes: 115 Registered: 10-Oct-2003	When i had aponoggeton bulbs to sprout a few months ago, and they floated, all i did was squezze the bulb very gently to remove any excess air. This did not seem to hurt the unsprouted plants at all. By the way, 4 out of 5 of them sprouted.
