I have never heard of a plant by the name of "Arachnaris". I searched on google and tropica.com and nothing came up. What i think you might meen is ancharis. It is a green stem plant that people usuaslly group together in the gravel or just leave floating. If it is ancharis, just treat it as you would with other plants(addition of iron). It grows in low-high light. Just not as thick in low light.

These are the easiest of all plants to keep. And yes, they will do great at helping control the nitrates in your tank. You really don't need to add anything to your tank for these plants, though, as they are extremely easy to grow.

On a side note; These plants are considered a weed actually. They get into rivers and streams and can take over an area very quickly. They can grow to over 50 feet long. When diving some of the rivers in Florida, we actually use big clumps of these to hold on to.

Anacharis is very easy to grow, and it is very tolerant of salt (it can be kept in brackish tanks too).

I've got some in my 29g that was growing very well without any extra stuff...but I decided to upgrade the bulb, add a few more bulbs, get reflectors, and get wide variety of low-med light plants...so now I've got anacharis growing at mad rates in the tank.

My longest piece at the moment is 5 feet in length. I usually seperate them where they grow stems, but for some reason one of them isn't growing any stems and just keeps getting longer and longer

Anacharis will definately help keep nitrates down... but if you really want something that will munch on nitrates, get some Hornwort. The stuff grows like crazy, and is even hardier than anacharis, it grows faster, and gets really bushy. One of my friends has a 27 foot long piece of hornwort crammed into his 10g tank. Duckweed will munch on nitrates quite a bit too.

Good luck with your anacharis....but I doubt you'll need any!
