hi folks,

i kept this plant a long time ago, and i don't think it is rare, but because i don't know the name i can't track it down in the shops...

it grows from a tuber, sends up a long stem with a narrow crimped leaf which often gets very long - maybe 45 cm or so. it also sends up an off-white flower with a yellow stamen on a long stem, which floats on the surface...

any ideas gratefully accepted,

justin

I dont think its an aponogeton because he said it grows from a tuber. I take this to be as some wierd type of microsorium or anubias species. I dont really know. Tuber could mean a rhizome.

it could mean a rizome not sure on what he ment by a tuber ether. i thought tuber was like rose bulbs which are somtimes called tubers. so i thought it was a bulb. plus it says it sends up a flower and crinkeled leaves. its very hard to get anubias to send up a flower unless its emersed and even for that it can take months for it to get to the surface. while a apon grows farly fast for a few months before it settles in.

thanks guys, done my research, it is apono crispus. 15 years ago i used to grow it in river sand (straight from the river on my farm)which was incredibly nutrient-rich, so it used to grow crazily both in speed and size. so i just thought it might have been a different plant from the comparatively smallish ones i see in petshops...

anyhoo, thanks again

justin

thanks for your health.
