bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004	i am alittle fuzzy about co2. i think they are for plants. i have a 6G plant and fish tank. is it necessary to add a co2. all i really know about co2 is that i use it for my paintball guns.

Tanks with more than 2wpg (watts per gallon) of light often have CO2 running to help the plants use more of the light rather than allow the algae to use it. bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004	Well Co2 is certainly not neccessary but it is beneficial if you have enough light as Babel said. Really don't think it's worth the bother on a 6gal though. The plants would grow out of the tank every couple of days With a tank that size better keeping it simple. Supplementing C02 is really to push growth, you don't need or want to be pushing growth in such a small tank, if anything you want to be thinking about plants that DON'T get too big or grow too fast. Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.
