just wondering if anyone else has done this? i ran out of regular sugar so i used some old brown sugar i had laying around. it doesn't seem to be doing as good of a job as "normal" sugar though.

Didnt' you run out of regular sugar awhile ago as well
maybe it was someone else .
Some of the volume of the sugar would be the molasses....not sure but you might want to use more brown sugar than you would white sugar to make up for the difference.

Funny that the only reason I use sugar these days is for CO2 .

EDIT: *sits corrected* ... it was cupa...

I haven't used brown sugar but I do use raw sugar. It seems to work just as well as white IMO.

brown sugar is fine, as is white sugar, as is adding a spoonful of molasses, a teaspoon of protein powder, a teaspoon of yeast nutrient (ammonium sulfate), and even a dash of room temperature ocean spray (makes the end result smell more like wine then beer).
