Bascially just tie it to an ornament; wood, some people even attach it to aquarium backgrounds that are inside an aquarium. There are some slight differences in varities but they are easy to care for and do not need alot of additonal lighting. You can use rubber bands or thread which will break down, and when they do you can just remove them from the tank.

I had a 20 gallon tank with a whole bunch of java ferns in it and what I found was that the fastest growing specimens were the ones that got the sunligight which would sometimes shine on one part of my tank for about 2 hours a day.

I've read that java ferns in high light grow bushier while low-light plants create more daughter plants. Though I'm not sure if that's correct... my low light java fern has created three daughter plants and is slowly growing bushier. I've have it for over 1/2 a year. *shrugs*

Oh! That is interesting information though. Actually very interesting. The single and only Java fern that I ever bought was one of the few that never had any sun. Going along with what you said, it was the only one of my ferns to actually grow daughters... 9 actually. However it did get extremely bushy. I'll go ahead and second that *shrug*.
