Also u can either plant these plant or let them float. They don't really have roots and they are nitrAte suckers. They supposedly release this chemicals that kill off algae.

Nothing personal, but I find hornwort plain ugly in most conditions. To obtain the vibrant green, wispy growth shown in above pictures, you need high lighting and CO2. Even then, it still doesn't match it's numerous look alikes in terms of sheer beauty. If you're intent on a hardy, nitrate sucking cerato, try water sprite.

I also don't think they're very attractive, and they are nitrate suckers. I put them in my tank where I wanted the nitrates a bit down, and after two weeks the nitrates were 0ppm and the other plants were suffering badly as the hornwort managed to outcompete them all for nutrients, which is not what I had in mind.

By the way, 100 pieces? this is quite a lot. Keep in mind that they double their size very often.

My Hornwort gets along fine without CO2 injection. And what 's more, grows at a phenomenal rate. I actually make some money selling the surplus cuttings back to my LFS!

In my Panda Fun Palace™, Hornwort grows at - wait for it - three inches per day. And is a lovely lush green. Mind you, it IS growing under a 10,000K tube. But my fish provide it with all the nutrients it needs. And that with 50% water changes twice per week.

Funnily enough, I have problems with Cabomba ... although with a 10,000K tube and plenty of fish providing nutrients, I fail to see why ... Hornwort on the other hand, grows like a weed in my aquarium. Elodea densa (better known to US aquarists as Anacharis) is another plant that beahves like a Water Hyacinth plague once it touches base in my aquarium. And as for Water Wisteria, well ... I reckon I could farm that for a living if I had the space
