i know that fish need there tank to be cycled before they are introduced. what about plants do they need the tank to be cyced or can i add them a couple of days after starting the tank up?
-i have co2
-plant substrate
-15w plant light
-plant food

Well it all depends on the substrate and in the quality of your light vs. tank volume, but if you cover all those the answer is no, they don't need to have a cycled tank, they get their nutrients from the substrate in most cases, and the ones that don't they can get from ferts. if you are running a fishless tank. If there are fish in it, their waste will be enough to feed them, you don't want to add ferts. if your plants don't need them, just keep a close look on them, if they start getting yellow or develop spots, that's a warning sign that they need it.
