incubus70  Fingerling Posts: 36 Kudos: 31 Votes: 3 Registered: 10-Mar-2005   | Hi, I'm interested in getting plants for my aquarium (I've never done it before). I guess this question is three-fold. I was wondering what kind of lighting is best for my 45 gal. aquarium (36' long, 14' wide, 21' high). How much wattage do I need for it to grow more than just java fern. And lastly, do fluorescent strip lights do a good job of growing plants? <br>Thanks. |

For more than low light plants, you'll want @least 2wpg. As you increase the ammount of light in the tank you're likely to want to also consider CO2. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe"  |
