I have kept Java moss in my planted 20 gallon (not tall) for a few<br>months now. I have the moss on a piece of drift wood. For some reason,<br>the moss wont grow. I cant figure it out. Some of it is brown and<br>dying some of it just sits there. Ive had this particular hand full of<br>moss for about 4 months and it is slowly dying off. Although i cannot<br>give you exact water parameters i can supply you with some information<br>that may help you- help me. 20 Gallon, 30 Watts total. (sometimes<br>additional light added from back while I'm away from school). DIY co2<br>injection. My other plants grow really well, but my moss just seems to<br>be drowning (you know what i mean). Any idea of what could be causing<br>this disaster?<br><br>Sorry about lack of information.

I have a Simease Algae eater, but he expresses no interest in the tank. The temp is about 78* and there are some strands at other parts of the tank and they behave the same way.

My experience with java moss is that it grows better at lower light, which is what you have. Is there good water flow in the tank. Sometimes with low flow alot of gunk get's caught in the moss in suffocates it. You might want to try cutting it way back. Sometimes the thinner it is on the driftwood that better it grows.

There is a strong flow of water in the tank, i cant even keep my betta in it anymore because its too strong. As for thickness, its very lightly spread because most of the mass has died off or floated away over time.

I have java moss on my driftwood in my 46 bowfront tank..It is under the filter output because it does great under some water flow..My moss was starting to grow so I pulled some off and it was bright green under the dirty top layer..I think a main thing to keep the moss looking good is to trim it or thin it out every week or so.

I just started usinng KNO3 (Green Light Stump Remover) and I have really started to notice my java moss blulking up. Most of my other plants haven't changed much but the mass has starting to go a bit wild.

There is nothing to trim, my moss is not thick. It is located under in the part of the tank that recivies the most turbulance. My moss is not so much dirty as is just turning yellowish.
