I'm fairly sure your apple snail will eat the plants, however if you provide enough fresh veggies for it they might survive.

What kind of lighting and what kind of substrate in the tank currently? Did he say which plants you would be getting? Different plants have different lighting requirements so getting the right ammount of light before you add them to the tank will help.

Not all applesnails eat plants. If it's barely growing and hasn't passed 2inches it's probably not the plant eating kind. Also the plant eating ones generally are only sold in yellow with white feet. The other kind comes in a rainbow of colors including my olive green ones with purple stripes, blue, yellow, brown.... I have 200 baby applesnails and 4 adults. They only nibble the dying parts of plants or old leaves if they haven't gotten enough to eat. I can't promise any applesnail will turn down really green new shoots. I don't start my bulbs in the tank for that reason. The kind of snail I have is actually more of a meat eater and prefers shrimp pellets or bloodworms.

Hasnt moved since you got him ....poke him with a stick see if he moves! Kidding of course. I've never had one so I was going with the info from [link=applesnail.net]http://www.applesnail.net" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link]. If he does start to eat them then you can always use it as an excuse to get another tank !.

no that's not me, that's my alien clone *runs and hides in embarresment.
