ok this is my plan. i am ordering around 70 peices of plants from ebay. hair grass, duck weed, sword plants, micro swords, camboma, anachris, and hornwort. i am thinking about growing them for a few weeks and then when i have enough place them in the tanks that i want. will this work, or is better to let them grow in the tanks i want to add them to, and if or when they get large take some out and make a plant tank.

Put them in the tank you intend to plant.

Absolutely no reason to let them grow in another tank.

Plants grow constantly and will always need some trimming shaping and maintenance. Do that in their permanent home so you can shape to suit the tank/aquascape.

It's better to put them straight in the tank that you are planning to plant.

Chris,

I agree with both previous posters, put them in their final tanks.

Just think about it - if you place them in a tank they will start to root and settle. As soon as this is achieved you would take them out again and the whole procedure would start anew. That is not favoring healthy plant growth.

If your plants get too big in their destination tanks you can still take some of them out and place them in a “new” plant tank. Or even better - sell them to the LFS for credit
