I'm looking for low light plant suggestions for my 30g. It currently has two large and three small amazon swords that are doing well. There is also floating anacharis and hornwort. The substrate is a coarse black gravel.

I'd like some sort of filler plants to add in along the sides and between the swords which are in the back. I want to stay away from vals and sag because I've always had bad luck with them.

What works in my 30 with 1 wpg include Anubias, Java Moss, and Marimo/Algae balls. Others have had success with Java fern and smaller Crypts (such as wendtii and lutea/walkeri). Good growing to you!

I'd also suggest some java ferns if you're looking for taller plants...they do prefer to grow on driftwood, but it doesnt' need to be a very large piece...they will IME also root into rock, it just might (obviously ) take a bit longer. They don't like being burried in the substrate, let them do that for themselves on their own.

anubias is good for a nice hardy plant that is hard to kill. personally, i would put some red crypt wendtii's in there for a little extra coloring between the swords

If you are looking for some red, I would suggest some Crypt Wendti Red. I have a little less lighting then you and mine is growing great.

I have quite a few plants that grow well in lower light, my 25g only has like 15 watts of light over it, and Wisteria grows great, Marimo Balls do great, Java Fern, Amazon Sword, Anubias, Giant Hygrophilia, Moneywort, Jungle Vallisneria, Corkscrew Val, Cryptocorne something with wrinkled thin tall leaves doing ok, no significant growth though, and I have two other types of Grass plants that i just got, but they seem to be healthy and happy. One is a huge plant long grass like fronds, they go right up to the surface then hang over and looks almost like a waterfall. Nice plant. The other one I got is a tall stiffer plant, again with a firm stiff leaf.
These plants are all doing well. I have had no luck with Onion Plants, mine looks just awful, but I hear they are easy to grow and so are banana plants and most anubias. I hear Tiger Lotus is also quite easy to grow.
