I have a few floating plants that I'd like to move to a different tank. The problem is the tank they're in now is being treated for ick.

Does ick have an sort of effect on plants? Can I move them or should I wait until the ick is gone?

The ich itself doesn't hurt the plants, though some of the meds can. I would finish out the ich treatment in the current tank, and wait about a week to be sure it's free of ich before moving them to another tank though. Plants can transfer diseases and it would be safer to wait until there isn't known disease in the tank housing the plants.

The ich parasite is in all tank water. The health of the fish and it's immune system will determine weather a fish will fall prey to the ole itch. Just rinse 'em in tap water a few times and/or a really weak bleach solution dip and you're good to go.
