So it is more than likely that the java moss you added has attached to the gunk. It desn't surprise me that hardy java moss survived despite the brown gunk. HTH, Megil. Just make sure that it really looks like the moss you added and not like some form of algae. That is why people recommend trimming your moss outside of the tank. All the little clippings will spread as soon as they can hold on to something. And Sleepy, that sounds like a cool tank. Why don’t you create a thread where you tell us about your moss problem? I am curious and would like to dig in further.\ Ingo Edit: I didn't check the date when this thread was created and didn't notice why it was so far up the list. Hopefully the info is still helpful.
