we have a few plants that have quite alot of roots part way up and were wondering what was best to do. should we take cuttings, press the roots down towards the sand, or just leave where they are??

What type of plants are they?

Quite a few stem plants produce water borne roots at the nodes. It's nothing to worry about, in most cases it's a sign that the plant is thriving.

It's really about aesthetics, some people find them ugly and distracting, personally I don't mind them that much.

You can trim them off or leave them be it's up to you. If trimmed they probably grow back anyway so it's extra work.

Other then that there is no need to do anything different then your already doing, the plants seem to like it
