i have an amazon sword, its been there for a little bit over a month now, its grown about 20 leaves, but each one of them are just like 8 inches long, and skinny, some have lighter shade of green, some are just fine, what am i lack of? these leaves are about 1 inch wide, and i know they are suppose to be like.. 2-3 inches wide.

no special gravel, just tabs, liquids, diy co2, and little over 3wpg

It could be a different species of sword that was mislabeled at the LFS. Do you have a picture? How long ago did you get it?

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

How deep is your gravel? Swords have biiiig root systems, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a sword with too little root room starts to grow a little funky, rather like root-bound houseplants not doing as well.

Yeah, I'd allow a lot more than that if possible - 4" might cut it for a smaller sword, but the more, the better in this case.
Do your root tabs have iron?

That can happen. i believe amazon swords can and usually are grown emersed to facilitate a much hardier plant for the riggers of shipping. Now that your sword is immersed, it shall grow leaves more suitable to the enviroment. Gravel has nothing to do with this, but amazon swords are heavy root feeders and would do better with a more nutritious substrate. They sell balls of laterlite or clay or fert tabs or something like that at stores. You can just stick one of those under the plant.

Hi,

It can also depend on the amount of lighting, i've had swords that when brought home, they have either skinny leaves like melon swords and once in a high light enviroment the leaves start to grow wider, same happend once all the way arround with an ozelot sword, so i think that if they are well fertilized and all, it must be a lighting change tthat is causing them to adapt.
