i've got a bunch of Wendelov Microsoriums (sp?). after introducing them to my tank, i noticed the growth of root-like structures from the leaves (the place where the Microsorium's leaved are split). those structures are black, about 2" long and have small hairs to the sides. they're attached firmly to the plants, and don't appear anywhere else in my tank (on the glass or other plants). what is it?

Probably a baby Java fern

thats how hey reproduce, they grow babies out of their leaves wait it out, you will most likely get little leaves and all to go with your black dot and roots

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
