My attention is currently on my 90g and the new driftwood that refuses to sinnk but this tank is starting to annoy me. I tried to make my 5g hex a medium light tank with mostly tawian moss and a few floating plants but it turns out the sunlight manages to angle and hit 3 panels of the tank. There's a nice coat of spot algae that I can't scrape off easily without damaging the acrylic. I have nowhere else to put the tank and it states in our apartment contract that we can't put anything over the windows. Fire hazard or something. So what do I do? Cleaning acrylic constantly is a real pain and within a day or 2 you can't see through at least 1 panel. The tank is visible on 4 out of 6 panels. For now it has tawain moss, duckweed, 1 java fern, and 1 little clover plant with black sand substrate and a few rocks for the moss and java fern to grow on. Should I just mix in some eco complete, add some faster growing plants, and make it a high light tank? Use the sunlight instead of trying to get rid of it. I'm not sure what to plant it with though since you can see into the tank from nearly all sides. Stem plants wouldn't look that great. |

Or you could place a mini room divider next to the tank so it blocks out the sun. Hopefully someone comes up with a better idea. Ingo ![]() |

It's a white sponge, aquarium safe but man that thing pulls off green spot algae a dream, even the hard stuff thats been there a while. No scratches. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
