so i have read that it lasts a 60 gallon about 2 months, so my 30 gallon will be ok for 4 months??

does anybody know what fish, or what creatures (shrimp, crab, snails) that will clean the calcium build up for me?

where can yu buy cheap carbon blocks?

You can also read my thread carboplus results. It's the same setup as the excel only the excel seems to have improved the controller. On a 55g you get 3-4months a carbon block but it's very dependent on your hardness. Many places sell the carbon block for $30 including 123fish.net. I got 2 on sale for $20 once.

my kh hardness is around 9-10 is that cool? the guy told me it should last least 1 year for 50 gallon... i am confused... haha, maybe i should just get the stuff they sell at petsmart, and do my own mixture?!?!

The excel system does not exist online in my searches except 1 listing on ebay. The 1 year still seems a far fetched claim as no current similar system goes beyond 4months. 1 year on what setting? what type of hardness and what size tank? Those all can play a big factor as well as turning it off at night which is not ideal. They might be claiming all the best case scenarios where you don't need maximum setting your kh is just right to get enough bubbles without using the block up fast and you turn it off when the lights are off. I wouldn't attempt it below 6kh for certain but 8+ seems to be enough.
