Correct me if I'm wrong, but anubias can be grown - indeed occurs naturally - as an emersed plant, right? In other words, can it be grown with just its roots in water, with the leaves out in the air?

No, like having an aquarium with a cover, preventing rampant evaporation. Spraying them once a day will do little to keep them hydrated. A mister would do as well, but it usually excessive for all but the largest paluds.

OK, i see. I'm trying to grow out some extra anubias for a tank I'm planning on setting up in a few weeks. I'd like them to have an extra leaf or two per rhizome by the time I set it up, and I figure they'll grow a little faster emersed, and also with less algae. Right now they're in a spare 10 gallon that's filled up only to cover their rhizomes - the leaves are exposed to the air. The tank has a cover and I've got 3 wpg on it. Think this'll work, COL?

So Anubias will grow above water level, with only the rhizome & the roots under water?.
Am i correct?.

Yep, actually most plants are grown that way.

But anubias and java fern occur naturally out of the water, for the most part. Usually they're attached to rocks near waterfalls, so they're constantly misted, but not under water. So as long as they're in a moist environment, as COL said, they'll grow fine. Actually, they'll grow quicker and with larger leaves.

Thanks alot for your fast reply, nowherman6. I'll be getting some Anubias & I'm going to attach them to Driftwood. I'll try some under water & some out of the water, to see the difference.
