sorry could be long one again!!

i've got a half planted tank - left hand side is planted right hand side has sand and rocks, and bogwood.

first thing is i would like to get some more java fern to plant my bogwood with - but the single one i have now has very dark leaves and doesn't seem to grow compared with another one of my tanks which only has javas in which are very light green and have fernlets growing from nearly every leaf.

why is this?? could it be the depth of the tank
one with good javas is a 15g 12inches deep with 15W bulb.
other tank is 40g 21inches deep with 2 25W bulbs.

the other plants in my 40g are doing fine, but i want to fill out the left handside more so it's heavily planted. i want a plant that is light green leaves and grows to about 5-7 inches in height and the same wide.

any ideas?? needs to be able to grow in around 1.25wpg.

plants have now:
Java fern (Microsorium pteropus) on bogwood
Vallisneria americana (gigantea)
Anubias barteri var. nana
Cryptocoryne beckettii (petchii)
Crinum calamistratum

i also want a small plant for both my tanks, only grows to around 3inches tall, but spreads out around the tank, this is to help fry and eggs nad also fill out the front of the tank??
i've heard of java moss but can't get it anywhere around me.

Green crypt wendtii is usually available, is light green, grows in low light, and will stay under 7 inches IME. Some have reported that it grows taller in lower lighting.

Foreground plants are hard to find in the low light category. Hairgrass would be my choice I guess(since you can't get java moss), but might not work with 1.25WPG. Someone else may have a better suggestion for a low light foreground plant.

Good luck!
