i think my new layout in my 45gallon uk is a bit out of balance. i would like some plants for the front, that don't grow to tall, and don't really fancy lawn affect.

ideas??

also should i add some differnt colours reds for example?

names of easy to grow red plants for the back of tank?

have you tried red temple? i got them 2 weeks ago, they are doing pretty good too plants in the front thats not too tall... try some anubias some grow short, cryptoryne are pretty easy and can have green/red/brown varieties.

i like the junglish look of your tank, what do you add to plants as supplements? and whats your lighting?

i haven't added anything to my tank this time, i once added tablets that dissolve releasing co2 and nutrients, only do it once, plants just grow well in my tank!
anything you advise me to add??

the lighting is a sun-glo 30" 25W bulb. it's said to be the best light for plant growth and fish colour for tropical freshwater. so said the box anyway!!

With only 25W you only have 0.5wpg (no matter how good the box says it is you can't make up for lack of intensity). Any red stem plant won't survive with such low light.

Crypts should grow ok even in such low light, but chances are the red variants will just throw out new leaves that are green.

Sorry but with 0.5wpg your options are very limited. Still possible to do a nice tank but just witha very select group of plants.
