29g reef | |
Dakafall Banned Posts: 218 Kudos: 224 Votes: 7 Registered: 14-Nov-2004 | well, this summer, i'm gonna set up a 29g reef, i'm planning on having 200w on it, and 30lbs of LR, and live sand, i've decided upon yellow polyps, and mushroom corals to start, and eventurally add brain and bubble coral, now to the main question, what sort of lighting should i use to acheive 200watts, i considered me the fish stocking is going to be, 1 Longnose Hawkfish 2 Firefish and 1 Flame Angel after the tank matures a bit and what other corals are easy to care 4 and grow (soft corals, POSSIBLY LPS) Daka<<<< |

Ive got a big book that says In a reef tank you can have 1inch of fish every 7.5gals For lighting how about compact fluros. I got a 228watt compact lighting setup on my 3 foot for less then $250 american dollars. |

EDIT: PC lights are a good way to go if you dont want MH's on your tank. Last edited by rabbit at 14-Apr-2005 08:40 |

Common examples that I can think of would be C. argi, C. resplendens, C. joculator, C. interruptus, C. acanthops and C. loriculus of course. These were the ones most commonly commented on at the recent NERAC conference. Dwarf angels are cool. Not my personal favorite, but none the less very neat fish. They can have a tricky personality sometimes though. Always watch for signs of aggression as they mature. I've met (or seen rather ) reef safe flame angels, and others that were anything but reef safe. I think it also depends a lot on what you as the aquarist are feeding them. For corals, my favorites that aren't SPS would be ricordia and zooanthids. My mom has chosen bubble corals, gonioporas, and allevoporas (sp.) for our tank. Hope that helps you out a bit.
