Two were dodgy when my dad bought them, one came back and looke great (huge and really big tentacles) the other stayed clowed up most of the time. The last was bought in nice condition from a better LFS, but they all spent some time in the same tank so I'm guessing the dodgy one likely had the disease and gave it to the other two. Good luck with yours roona. Dro, I'll have a look at some pic's of porites and get back to you on that thanks for the suggestion. |

Dark Lotus![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 ![]() ![]() | David, i have gone against what i have read and moved the coral to a spot where it gets water movement coming at it from behind in bursts, and then swirls it slowly for a while until the burst from behind comes again. (Im using Tunze turbelle with multicontroller and just sat there for ages adjusting it until the coral moved how i wanted and when i wanted.) In under 24 hours, it literally "came out of its shell" -tentacles are nearly a foot when extended and its ba At moment i have been giving it 2 pieces (each one about half a cubic centimeter) of fresh squid a week. I will increase this a bit or may go to bi weekly feedings. I use frizen brine in the tank and im sure it gets some of this too but im looking for more things and have a few ideas. It has "grabbed" my fingers a few times... havent noticed anything funny, just feels bizarre but i will watch it from now on mate. Mine has a greenish with prominent red ba When i bought it, it looked so small... im stoked with the way it looks now ![]() -What lighting do you have them under in the shop? -also, do you feed anything other than brine? (ideas ![]() cheers David. p.l.u.r Matt Cake > Pie |

What are you feeding it and yes they eat, try giving it some brine shrimp. Beware of the sting they can give you, I have seen one of out customers who accidentilly run his arm on a piece and it wasn't pretty ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As for the hermit with the anemones on his shell, he is in another tank for now. Today the coral looks good, still not fully extended but most of its ba Thanks for your comments guys. p.l.u.r Matt Cake > Pie |

Strangly enough at my LFS today they were trying to catch a rogue crab in their 90 gallon display tank. Apparently it was knocking over all the corals and even rearranging some live rock. |

Mikey started the trend and then I got one a while later. I guess it's your turn. I hope your coral recovers. Raider_fish |

Dark Lotus![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 ![]() ![]() | hhmmm, i think i have found the cause. A week ago i took a hermit crab with 2 Calliactis polypus on his shell which was in my hosp/QT tank basically keeping the bed clean and placed him in the display. Well, the other night while watching after lights out i observed him actively aggrevating the coral, would not leave it alone! He would annoy it with his claws and then turn around basically shoving the anemones onto the coral. After 30 seconds of watching the Catalaphyllia trying to grab the hermit i removed him. Its been 2 nights and the Catalaphyllia tentacles are about 50% puffed up again (a great improvement considering how it looked the past days) I think it may be ok, i think when i get home from work tomorrow im going to be either very happy or still slightly distressed! p.l.u.r Matt Cake > Pie |

It has retracted considerably and looks much skinnier. Colours are still bright but im really not liking this turn of events. p.l.u.r. Matt Cake > Pie |

How long had you had them and how far apart were they purchased, also what position in the tank were they in? So far mine is looking great (it is early days though), i have moved it to a better spot and reduced the flow it recieves a little bit more. Sorry to hassle for the info, just would be great to know thats all. chebro, Matt Cake > Pie |

One is not coming out and one is coming off its skeleton but looks fine. It was a real bugger as they were nice ones. I just got some more corals, i bought something that looks a little like blastomussa but is orange red and white, some mushies and christmas tree worms rock which has an unidentified sps on it and a stick of small green colonly anenome have no idea what they are. |
