I saw my open brain pull into a little ball, after I did a water change the previuos night. I did a water test and wow... My ph has dropped to 7.7. All other levels are fine:
amonia 0.1
nitrate 5
silinity 1.023
calcium 520(which is also a bit high)
temp 26.5 deg
kh 120
I am busy pushing up the ph again with ph increaser as my kh is right. My big question is will the open brain come right, or do I need to add something for it? I have also changed a globe to a stronged white one "ocean sun" "10 000k" due to the phillps I had started a bad run on algue. Will this aslo have something to do with it?

Detectable ammonia can't be helping anything in your tank.

When did you test the pH by the way? It can vary at different times of the day, depending if the lights were just off etc.

Thanks for the reply, I have created another topic on this, but do you want to tell me that the ph drop over night because the light is off? That will be great, but why does it drop, and will it go up once the light is on?

PH lowers during the dark cycle because of the production of C02 and the halt of photosynthesis/02 production of your corals......just like trees, plants, etc. the symbiotic algae in corals tissue will produce 02 during photosynthesis (lights on) and produce C02 when the lights are off. This is one of the reasons that alot of people are using refugiums with algae. They light the refugium on a reverse cycle of the main tank so that the algae is growing (photosynthesis) while the corals are producing C02....it helps to balance it out and keep the PH from dropping.

7.7 is still a little low even for taking the reading after the lights have been off for awhile. Take a reading on the PH right before the lights shut off. This should give you your "high" reading. Then take one right before they turn on in the morning. This reading will be your "low" reading.

You could also try to increase water flow/surface aggitation to try to increase the 02 content and help to keep the PH up.

Also, what kind of "PH increaser" are you using?
