Purchased a new dual Sattelite coral system | |
jkalfsbeck Enthusiast Posts: 193 Kudos: 132 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Dec-2002 | I need help figuring out when to run this light system. It's a dual system. A 10,000 65 watt actinic lamp (i think it's 10,000) but it is actinic. and a 6500 daylight. Also has a lunar light. If anyone owns anything similar to this any ideas on how you run your system would be greatly appreciated. This is a 30 in. strip and is on top a 30 gallon reef tank. This is my first major lighting system. And I'm away at work for 9 hours a day so for right now I'm just running the Actinic light and when I get home I figure on running the the daylight w/ it. And the lunar at home, or should I reverse the lights and have the lunar while i'm at work and then leave the lights on when I get home at 5 pm. And on avg. how much light would mushrooms, and colony polyps need right now? I do plan on stocking w/ more corals soon also. Just need some ideas. And does the fan need to be running 24/7 also? Also forgot to mention I do have a timer but it's not the right kind b/c the 2 main lamps have 3 gs and the timer only has a outlet for a two g. The surge protector is also 3 g. Thanks a lot. I work 6-3 or 4 so i run my actinics on at 9am, halides on at 10am and then halides off at 10pm, actinics off at 11pm. This gives me a balance between enjoying the tank after work and on the weekend. I see no problem with running the fan 24/7 but it may be only necessary to run it while the lights are on. -DL Cake > Pie |
