RBTA splitting | |
ACIDRAIN Moderator Posts: 3162 Kudos: 1381 Votes: 416 Registered: 14-Jan-2002 | Hiya's all. Just thought I would share some of my pics of my RBTA splitting. The whole ordeal lasted about 3 hours. Enjoy! I noticed my RBTA moving out of his long time spot. I have to keep an eye on him, as there are several corals in there that he can sting, as well as any new places he might open up and shade from the light are not good. I lost half a colony of cabbage leather for this reason a few months ago. When I checked on it again, it was looking like the pic below; Notice the two strands of the tentacle tissues, that are holding the two new RBTAs together. And notice that the split is actually occuring at the mouth. Here is a more close up. You can see in the mouth how the one side is open and has not connection. Poor GSM clowns don't know what to do. The male continued to stay in the original spot of the anemonee, seen in the bottom part of the pic. The female kept going up to both parts and back down. I think she was doing her best to coax it back to the spot. Now it is down to one strand. Notice how the strand that has come apart, now starts to encircle the open ended mouth. A low quality pic, but you can again see how the mouth is being closed in upon. The female GSM clown continues to coax the RBTA, to no avail. Notice the last strand is getting thinner. And even thinner. . . And finally they are done. Two new RBTAs I have several new pics of them, but still have to upload them. I will post again with some updates. It has been 4 weeks now, and both are doing fine. Hope you enjoy the pics, as much as I enjoyed watching them. ACIDRAIN Moderator Posts: 3162 Kudos: 1381 Votes: 416 Registered: 14-Jan-2002 | UPDATE; Both are doing great and have settled down from their tank tour, and moved into their new homes. One actually is in the same home the original one lived. The pair of GSM clowns take turns in both of them now, as they have settled into opposite ends of the tank. Sometimes they frequent them together and other times they are seperate. Guess they are just keeping their home ideas options open, LOL. Pic of one back in its original home; Pics of the second one across the tank; Enjoy! There is always a bigger fish... |
