DarkRealm Overlord Moderator metal-R-us Posts: 5962 Kudos: 2166 Registered: 23-Sep-2002 | You might also want to check your Magnesium levels.....I know, I know....another test kit to buy, and one that isnt really cheap at that! Low magnesium levels will also make it hard to keep calcium up, so Id check that also. I highly doubt that your rock and corals could use up the calcium that fast! Even in my 180 that was sps dominated and that had 400 + lbs of rock did my calcium ever get used up that fast. Granted the corals used the calcium and I had basically no coraline growth except for some on the rocks.....but still. If your corals were sucking up that much calcium, you would notice considerable growth! |

Maybe there was a mistake with the first reading. Taking a reading too soon after dosing calcium/alk etcetera can throw off results. I dunno, just throwing out ideas here... One other idea - your 5 sps ate it all.... Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

DarkRealm Overlord Moderator metal-R-us Posts: 5962 Kudos: 2166 Registered: 23-Sep-2002 | I certainly dont have money for one I agree with Liana, Id point the readings at either a poor quality test kit, an outdated test kits, or user error. With no more than what you have in the tank your calcium shouldnt be going that fast. I also second the vote on Salifert test kits, especially for calcium.....cant beat the accurace of a lab quality test kit |

They do expire...and crazy things can happen with like evap. and whatnot... my recommendation right off the bat, is going to be switch to Salifert no matter what it's the only thing I truly can say I trust -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |
