just wondering if there are any anemone species that are capable of surviving under 4 * 50 w no fluros? if so what would be the best species and would target feeding the anemone enable me to keep some more light demanding species?
also my tank is shallow "48cm" so the anemone would allways be close to the light source, would this further enable me to keep high light demanding species as less light is absorbed by the water?

thanks for your help

The name escapes me right now, but I know of one more common lower light anenome. It will require feedings several time a week, if not daily. Usually things like cocktail shrimp will work well for food.

You cannot keep anything that will require probably even moderate lighting. Regular florecent lighting just does not have the intensity required to keep them. Also, feeding a high light requiring anenome will not allow you to keep it with very low light like yours. You'll have to find a low light one.

I bought this anemone which the fishman called "purple tip anemone", I only have 3 x 11w 8000K compact flourescent and it stays alive, I feed it ocassionally like once a week.

However, when i bought it, it was pure white. Under lower light, it turned a a bit yellowish.

COndylactus anemone's will do ok under low light conditions.

Be warned though, they don't host clowns in the wild and have even been known to eat a tank resident.

Are you talking about a Flower pot?

If so, they have a bad reputation of never living longer than about 1year, regardless of their husbandry. One of those things better left in the ocean where they don't have a 100% chance of death.

Any Atlantic Anemone will usually do ok under low lighting.

-Condylactus Anemone

-Rock/Flower Anemone

That's two of the easiest (and cheapest) anemone's that will survive under low lighting. I do reccomend a peice of shrimp or silverside once a week though.
