I have been shopping for a bargain and saw a CPR hang on the tank refugium for my 70 gallon. I have a few questions though. Is this enough for my system? It only has about a 2 gallon capacity. I'm interested to see if anyone has one of these and if they are good or bad.
Heres a pic:

Well, couldn't post a pic, but the fuge is on MarineDepot.com. It seems like a good idea, and I don't want to spend the money to get a seperate tank setup.

its not that bad of a setup. It is kind of on the small side, but I know a lot of people that have used them and they were happy with them. One thing to remember is that you really wont get the nutrient export from the HOB fuge that you would from a larger fuge. One thing that you will get though is all the critters. The HOB fuge is a good design that lets the water from the fuge free flow back into the tank, which means no critters getting chopped up by the pump.

I think I can fit the 18" fuge on there, but would it even matter? If there was an easy, cost effective way to setup a fuge under my tank that would be nice. I have a 10 gallon that I use as my quarantine tank but I've been lucky enough to not have to use it. Do you have any advice as how to set it up? I was thinking maybe a Mag 5 with some PVC for the connections. I really don't have the money to buy an overflow box.

I'm not positive without looking, but I think a Mag 5 would be serious overkill for a hang on fuge. In fact I doubt it would even fit. And I'm not sure you'd need anything in addition to the aquafuge, I think they are kinda 'all inclusive'. You may need a small pump though.

I think he was saying he is thinking of a 10g fuge.In that case,You could take a clear plastic box.Drill a 3/4" hole and insert the pvc with 90's down to your sump. You will have to drill alot of small holes for the water to get into the box,but smaller than your critters to keep them out of the tank. This is a syphon method and would only be temporary until yoou get an overflow.I used this method and it's a pain to get things adjusted with a ball valve to control flow .I used it for about 3 weeks before it drove me to an overflow since you have to constantly monitor it.
