I know this is obvious, but a person unfamiliar with this animal may assume that they would be ok adding it to a tank full of water with no way to "hop" on "land" if it is declared a bottom dweller. Structure is very important for them and a lot of social heirarchy is enforced using structural positioning. They sit, but that depends where the something to sit may be, and the keeper should provide choices of where to sit,at varying heights. Generally they steer away from deep water more than a few feet down, so this could hardly be described as a bottom dweller. |
