Melafix isn't an actual "drug" in my book. For actual pop eye it would not be enough to treat it.

Although minor pop eye (the injury/infection type) can be treated with melafix and pimafix, if you wait 2 weeks or give an open-ended treatment without provision for moving up to something with more punch, the problem is likely to have progressed quite far and it would be a bit late to attempt much else.
