Hi,

Ive always wanted to hae a tnak with say 20-30 neons in it.

I have a 125 litre going spare soon so think i migth attempt it.

What i would like to know is what plants, conditions, other fish could be kept in there to make it as natural as possible for the neons.

Does anybody have any useful links for me?

I buy all my plants from http://www.java-plants.com/ if somebody could advise me on what plants to buy etc that would be amazing

Thanks alot.

java ferns
amazon swords
java moss

neons like darker tanks so brite light isnt great n the ferns n moss dont need hi light so there perfect
to bring out the colours use a dark substrate n black background
feed hi quality protein flake n frozen foods
a varied diet is best
they will not school as beautifully as u may wish except when scared but 20-30 will look amazing in a tank anyway
they prefer cooler water no matter what anyone else says
72-74 is perfect
regular water changes r a must
accilmate them slowly u will most likely loose a few if there store bought

good luck

jsut to add i bred mine in a ph of 6.3 n kept my main schools at about 6.5

any other tetra is great with them i personally kept harliquin raspboas with mine
rams work also
pearl gouramies r a nice addition as well

fish go with 15 neons, 10 cories, 2 ottos, 2 dwarf gouramis. the cories and ottos will keep the tank neat. the gouramis aren't native neighbors, but they coexist nicely with the cories and tetras(and they look cool). conditions should be 6.5-7,5 pH, 77-79°F, and 5-7°dH.

i forgot to mention harlequins are ok with the others too, just substitue the rasboras 1 for 1 with the neons for numbers.just have at least 6 of each. glow light tetras work with the same rules.
