I added 2 Red Platy's, 2 Black Tetras & 4 Neon Tetra's to my tank last week. The Neon Tetra's moved around freely and were very active. 2 days later I added 2 Serphai Tetra's and the Neon's since then have been more timid. Now I would add more Neons but will that rush the process of the Ecosystem or is it safe to add like 3 or 4 more Neon's without stressing out the fish too much?

Could you give us a list of the fish in your tank, and the size of the tank? Also, how often do you change the water in your tank?

The tank is a 30 gallon. The tank is also brand new so I haven't cleaned it. I was told to wait 6 weeks until I clean it.

Tuesday I had added the first fish to the tank

4 Neon Tetra's (which were more active at first)
2 Black Tetra's
2 Red Platy's

2 days later I added

2 Serphai Tetra's (this caused the Neon's to become timid)

I was thinking of waiting the 6 weeks so that the ecosystem in the water can form before adding more fish. Will the 4 Neon's be ok?

I would take back the Serpae Tetras if I were you. They're nippy fish and it'll look plenty amazing with jsut the black neon and neon schools in that tank instead of the serpae school being added to that. Your neons (both types) will be more outgoing and the tank'll be much calmer. Maybe look into a small cory school instead...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.
