I know technically Cherry barbs are Cyprindae but they look a bit like tetras! I am going to add a school of either of these fish to go with my shoal of rummynoses, and i need some advice on which to get! has anyone had any bad experiences with either of these fish? Thanks

At my lfs there around 3/4in when they have bright colors. You may have gotten some females though if you fish are bigger than this because males have the bright red cherry color.

im little confused, in the books i have been reading it says their maximum size is 5cm (up to 2 inch) it also says this on the profiles on this site, is this true or can they get to 3/4 inch?

cherry barbs don't school, in fact the opposite, they don't like to be around their own kind. I've had my 4 cherry barbs for over 4 years. When the two males get together they flare their fins and chase each other away. The females gets larger. The males are always in their breeding colour, a very intense red. They are always pursueing the females.
My 2 males are 1-1.5inches and the female is 2 inches. My cherrys are constantly breeding in my 70gal community. I see really tiny fry often, one has actually survived and is now a full grown female.
