Your pH is not too high. Cardinals, and most fish, can live in a wide range of pH, as long as the change is not made rapidly. If the pH of the LFS water was 6, or 8, then going to 7 in your tank is a big change. I believe that moving a fish from the LFS to the home tank is a very stressful time, and many things could cause problems. I would suggest testing your water, and compare it with the water at the store you bought them from, to look for differences. Personally, I always try to do a water and filter change before buying new fish to make the water as high quality as possible. Don't buy any more for a few weeks, and see how the remaining fish do. Good luck!

Perhaps I overfed? The one that most recently died had a big belly. But the other two had normal looking bellies.

As for my feeding frequency. I feed my fishes 2-3 times a daily in small amounts. I usually ive 2-3 flakes per feedtime for my tetras and 2-3 pellets for my Rams/Cories.

They could have been newly imported to ur pet store when you bought them... I think the cause is too much stress from overhandling.

That may be true because the LFS just recently got them.

I'll wait a couple weeks before getting any new ones.

In a recent answer on a magsine i get someone lost all but 8cards out of 40. The reason was cause they were WILD perhapse you could ask your lfs for some captive bred cardinals

I think a week or so is long enough to wait... I hope they're not sold out when you go to buy them

My pH is 7 and since I got 8 Cardinals last monday, 2 have died! Could this be because my pH is too high?

30 gallon tank:
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitirte - 0ppm
Nitirate - 15ppm

Stocklist:
-6 Cards
-6 Leopard Cories
-2 Bolivian Rams
-4 Amano Shrimps

it's not ph, and it sounds like you know how to feed them - i concur with the wild-caught/overhandled/stressed ideas. be patient, buy them 5-6 at a time and build up. i used to have a three-footer with nothin but cardinals - gorgeous!

Grrreat. Another one died!!

If this continues, there'll be zero left.

Which other schooling tetras are hardy? I may have to replace the Cardinals...

rummynoses, glowlights, diamonds...but i dunno if i should talk - i don't find any tetras hard to keep (touch wood!!) i think it's more an issue about where u got them from, how they are handling the move etc...and of course the way u keep them - remember that water parameters are the most important part of keeping healthy fish.

8/6
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 15ppm

I don't see anything wrong with my water parameters...

I would do a quick water change just in case your readings are inacurate.
