They won't really school tightly unless they are stressed, but that many congos in a large tank will look great nonetheless. |

They don't actually get to four inches, three is more likely. The more congo tetras you have in there, the better it is for them. Also, size isn't the only consideration here, bioload plays a big part in the stocking levels of a tank. Tetras produce very little waste, so you can fit more than you think. I'd go with ten, add your other fish, and see how that goes, if you would like to add more. |

I agree with 10...that's a good start until you finalize the rest of your stock list. Any particular loaches in mind? ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

They are not brackish fish, so they will do well in normal freshwater. Keep in mind that they will eat some algae, so if you go with mollies, don't scrape off all of the tank's algae. Leave some for the mollies, they like to supplement their diet with greens. |

Females only reach about 2.3 inches, and males usually slightly upwards of 2.5. Also, sorry, as I did not see your plans for keeping other fish with congos, hence why I suggested such a dense amount of fish. Be warned though---they can be notoriously nippy.
