Do diamond tetras swim back-and-forth constantly across the front of the tank like rosy barbs? I find rosy barbs too much for my taste and I just wanted to know before I buy.

Also anyone's opinion or advice on diamond tetras would be great.

Rosy barbs are indeed very active fish. I think you'll find the Diamond tets calmer. When mature, their fins lengthen, and although they are not as colorful as some fish, they have a nice iridescence when the light hits them 'just right'. I wouldn't keep them with any known fin nippers, BTW. A nice, medium (to about 2.5" or 6 cm) sized Tetra!

I'm the opposite, I prefer the rosy barbs swimming to the diamond tetras just "hanging out" that mine do, however I do like them. They're in the main office tank I have @work, and do have a great breeding swimming pattern. The male will spread out his long fins and really look like he's dancing with the female. I've found that it's better to have the tank brighter than the room as mine seem to startle rather easily.

Good luck with yours .

^_^

Actually, my diamond tetra (a male with the long fins and everything), seems to always be swimming back and forth across the tank. He even tries to get the other tetras to do it, but they are a bit more reluctant.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
