do u mean that when u turn the lights on in the morning they are pale? if so, almost all tetras lose colour during the night, so that's not a prob... if u mean late into the night with the lights still on, maybe they need a rest?lol!

It's when I turn the light on after it's been dark so your reply makes sense. Should I leave the tank light on all night? At the moment I turn it off at night.

No... they need day/night cycles. It's just normal for fish colors to fade overnight. Unless they are losing colors because they're startled at the sudden light (make sure the room light is on before turning on the tank lights), then you're fine.

My betta girls do the same thing. Freaked me out the first time I woke up to find my dark red girls barely showing the colors of their irridescence. (I have three red girls with difference color washes... odd to see girls that are supposed to be red showing up as very pale blue, green or purple!)

I agree they do fade at night, only worry when their red stripe starts to fade.

Yeah, lots of fishes will have their color fade a little at night, but it comes back during the day as long as the fish are healthy.

OH MY GOSH NTD.

o.o

Just kidding. Anyways, as aforementioned, fish coloration changes often. Unless he's not behaving per usual, there's no need to worry.
