I just added 5 flame tetras (von rios) to my 55g that has 8 head and tailights, 4 rummies, 1 angelfish, 1 german ram, 8 corydoras sodalis/trilineatus, 4 yoyo loaches, 3 ottos, and 1 BN.
I have noticed the flames being nippy towards each other (don't see any damage though) but they chase each other every now and then. Are they known to be nippy towards other fish? I didn't think they were, thats why I added them. But I just noticed my angelfish's fins being torn. She hasn't looked like that in a while so I think something in my tank is doing it. I haven't noticed anyone nipping at her though, so I don't know who it could be.
I did have another angelfish I added this past weekend, who died Friday, so maybe they got into it...not sure because I never saw any aggression.
Any thoughts on the flames?

I've noticed these fish to be nippy as well, but kept in larger schools they usually keep the nipping within the school.

If you have the room, increase their numbers and see what happens, most likely they'll leave the angel alone, but no guarantees.

I agree the von rios are probably the culprit. Maybe a good sitdown is in order to catch them.

I will try to increase their numbers...but it won't be until the weekend before I can get more. I will try to sneak up on them at night and see if I can catch them. Usually when I watch the tank the angel is on one end and all the tetras are on the other end. But that doesn't mean its the same when the lights go out.
I planned on getting more this past weekend, but didn't make it to the particular LFS that sells them. Guess I'll need to make the trip soon though if I want them to leave my angel alone.
Thanks for the help. /:'
