My local petsmart carries non dyed glass fish. Good for them too considering there not always the wisest when chosing fish. You can keep the glassfish in a school of 5-6 but 8-10 would be much better for the glass fish.

Well, non-dyed ones come in regularly to Capitol Aquarium in Sacramento (along with the dyed ones, I'm sorry to say) -- but that's one hell of a a big and well-stocked fish store. Your best bet might be to just put in a special request to your LFS. (Remember that they need a little salt in their water, unlike tetras.)

Really, thats not good. Do you know anywhere you can buy some non-dyed glassfish. I regulary see non-dyed glassfish at my LFS.
I just don't agree with buying dyed fish, as it supports the trade.

The one i have was dyed but after like 3 months the color faded, in the pic you can still see some green near the tail.

If I get a group of glassfish tetras will they school together in my 60 gallon tank? I was thinking like 5 or 6 to put in there.

The only problem with that fish species is now it is hard to find them not dyed. I have never seen one not dyed. As for schoolers I think they would be like a black tetra.

I had the one in the pic for about 6 months I had 3 when I was cycling my 20 gallon FW but 2 died then I converted my 20 FW to SW and got a 60 gallon and tranferred it into it leaving it the only one left. Now I want to make a school or Shoal in it.

I think that's a Chanda Ranga. It's just a better looking one compared to the one's in the links. (i don't even know if the first link pic is a chanda ranga)

My guess is that he is referring to the actual "glassfish", Chanda ranga. I believe that they are schooling or at least shoaling fish, and groups of at least six are best for them. The same goes for the glass bloodfin tetras, though.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Is it a Bloodfin or a Chanda ranga your talking about.

If it's the bloodfin then they are schooling fish. IMO a good school number is 7 or more.

I'm pretty sure Chanda ranga are schooling fish as well.

What do you mean by "glassfish testras"? Do you mean Glass Bloodfins? If so, they will school (and they're not hard to keep, either).
