They are about the coolest tetra imaginable.
BIG(up to 4", close schooling and beautifully iridescent rainbow colored:

Very peaceful, but not "food" for, or easily intimidated by other larger fish because of their size.

I have a school of 12 in my 120 gallon tank...and Love them!
So Cool!

Anyone else own any?

My parents have a school of about 7 (which should be a group, but they stick together like glue so we'll just say school ) ad they have earned the nickname of "the little thugs"

Sweet fish though, huge really, and so grumpy-looking

yes, and the fin structures of the males' dorsal fins and tail fins are really unique...plus their cool/subtle "rainbow iridescent" colors! They definitely hang/school tight together which I like....maybe they feel that it gives them safety in watching the school of my very fast swimming manic 6" Bala (Silver) Sharks darting around together.

I think Congos are the most interesting and beautiful large rainbow colors Tetra I've seen!
(can't wait for them to get their full 4" length!)

I took some photos for you.

I can't really say that the tank size is appropriate for them, but they seem to be fat and healthy and enjoying themselves. They weren't planned additions and this isn't my tank so please don't take this photo as ideal conditions.
