my 10 gal tank has like 6.2 ph right now.

I was doing fishless cycle and i didn't even put any bogwood, but it just got lowered.

But, is this gonna be suitable for my tetras? (cardinals)

Cardinals will live in pH 6.2 no trouble. And if your water is soft as well as acidic, you might even get them to spawn! Be warned, though, while they are relatively hardy maintenance wise, persuading them to breed is a whole different ball game. :88)

6.2 is a perfect pH for a lot of tetras to spawn and live comfortably in. If you want to you could house Blue Rams in there instead, and get them to breed which is a lot easier than tetras But those are conditions i wish i had in my tank. The lower the pH the less toxic ammonia is...right? And my rams and tetras would all love the 6.2 compared to my 7.6

Not all tetras are difficult to breed!

Lemons will spawn in a community tank (as mine have done fairly often) if they like your setup. The "difficult" ones tend to be things such as Neons, Cardinals, Rummies and Bleeding Heart/Ornate Tets. Lemons and Flame Tets are MUCH easier!

But will lemons spawn in harder water such as 7.6 or higher?

The only types of tetras I've heard of that might dislike that pH are Diamonds, Glass Bloodfins and Blind Cave Tetras (which are really unusual in that they live in a limestone cave in Mexico and require alkaline pH). The first two seem to prefer neutral water.

Basically, if the Tetras in question are Amazonian, or come from a soft, acidic African rainforest biotope, then yes, low pH is fine. Be wary of exceptions though, as Bruce has just mentioned.

As for Diamonds, which Bruce has had all sorts of woes with, tank bred ones should be slightly more adaptable, but then, we all know in this game that there is, on occasions, a lamentable gulf between "should be" and "is" ...
