What I am wondering is, what is the ideal number for a school of these fish? I was thinking about adding a minimum of 12 of these, too many? too few? Do they have the same water requirements as other south american tetras? My ph will be 6.5 or so, temp will be around 80, there will be good water circulation, and lots of air, as well as live plants, driftwood and some rocks. Will they take regular feed? I feed a combination of Tropical Flakes, Veggie Delite 8 Veggie Flakes, Brine Shrimp Flakes, Shrimp Pellets, Algae Wafers, Red Grubs, Bloodworms, and Frozen Bloodworms and Daphnia, as well as whatever live bugs happen to come into my house. Is there anything else I can do to make my hatchets feel more at home? Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

They are easy to take care of. YOur temp food ect. look perfect. The only thing i would add to make them feel at home is either plants fake or real that touch the surface so the hatchets can school around them and protect them from frying in the light. (especially if you have a planted tank) or you can add a couple of those fake lillies to the top of your tank. And if your hatchets really like your tank they will start schooling around the middle of the tank with your other tetras. You can never have to many for them. The more the marrier. And one last thing have a secure hood because they are very good jumpers. A lot of people are over paranoid about holes in their hoods where they could jump through. IME small holes are ok. But it is better to be safe than sorry. [span class="edited"][Edited by 2004-07-16 23:06][/span] |
