Hm... my 10gal planted tank is almost done with fishless cycle. (Finally!)

And, i wanna put some fish.

I was thinking about putting like 6 neons, 2 corys, and 2 otos.

But... is there any better combination you guys can suggest?

Fish that i wanna put in are black neons, neons, cardinals, glo-lights, any corys, or otos.

if you're gonna choose between neons and cardinals, go cardinals! they are healthier, bigger, brighter fish IMO. with a small tank like yours, i'd say go with one school of one species - they look beautiful in as big a group as possible, and are happier, rather than a few fish of different species... i used to have a planted 3 footer full of cardinals - BEAUTIFUL!! (with some corys for clean-up duty)

cardinals are a definate!!!!they are so much better looking and hardier! also i would get about 5 ottos. you would be amazed at how well they clean everything!corys are cute and nice but will get big for that tank reaching almost 4 inches depending on what type you get.ottos and cardinals would be peaceful and a great addition to any small tank!

Don't get neons! this is where I slipped up my tank now has the neon tetra disease in the tank which has already killed two of my neons, get cardinals instead, they are immune.

As for the Cories, see if you can find C. hasbrosus, the dwarf salt and pepper Cory. Get 6. They only grow to about an inch or so, and would make a nice little school on the bottom. Don't get Otos yet, as there's no algae in the tank yet for them. For your tetra school, I would go with whichever you find the most attractive of the glowlights, black neons, or cardinals. Just be sure to go with one school of 6, rather than 2 of each.

Hm... thx a lot for all those replies.

So.. i'm definite about getting cardinals.

But... i'm still thinking about otos and cories.

I would like to put both of them, if possible.

Cories, i would like to put Panda cories, and according to this site, they will only grow up to 5 cm, or 2 inch.

I wanna put otos because of algae, and i put cories because they clean up the bottom but they also look nice.

So.. what do you suggest?

My plan is like putting 6 cardinals, 3 panda cories, and 2 otos. Is that gonna be fine?

Cories should be in a larger group than 3, and there really isn't room for that size school in a 10g.

Damn... alright.

Then.. only otos? or only corys?

Well.. putting otos will clean up the algaes, but i also wanna put corys, if i can.

Will corys be better or otos?

Ottos do good with algae while Cory's don't really touch it.(plus with a school already in there, there is no room for cory's) Go with a school of 6 Cardinals and 2 Ottos.
