Cichlid Kid![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 553 Kudos: 285 Votes: 34 Registered: 22-May-2004 ![]() ![]() | hi my neons seem to be getting their food stolen away by the hunry,or selfish guppies.they seem to only eat small bits off the flakes,but only when they sink,and they will not go up to get the flakes when they are whole and floating.is this because they are scared oof the guppies,or possibly shy?will they die?should i try breaking up some flakes,and crushing them,then soak them in water so they will sink faster and the gupps wont steal them away?or could it just be that they are so small the are eating their fill and dont want any more so they dont "compete" for the food? |

jase101![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004 ![]() ![]() | in my experience, all tetras will take sinking food IN PREFERENCE to eating from the surface, which of course they will do too. i always just take my pinch of flake food and hold it under the water for a second before releasing it - it will slowly sink and the kids will go crazy - your guppies will eat it as it sinks too, but it may just give the neons more of a chance. my rummies, diamonds and cardinals all eat their fill this way, and the clean-up crew get the rest. just be careful not to overfeed, of course. |
