i really don't know too much about it, but my friend had them both in a 10 gallon together and the zebras started attacking them, so he had to take the neons out.

I personally wouldn't suggest it. They have a different hardness preference, while yes there will be some overlap and yes they would get along together aggression wise IMO it would be best to go with the one best suited for you water. Neons prefer slightly softer water, and zebra danios prefer slightly harder.

Like many things, it's normally never a good idea to do it just because someone friends friend has done it.

^_^

i would say its ok as long as u have a larger school of neons. I these two together and the zebras chased the neons but since there was an established school they seemed fine

What size tank are they going in, and what other fish are in with them? With sufficient room, there should be no problem. However, I see you have Tiger Barbs; please don't put the Neons in the same tank as the Tigers.

There is no problem. Hardness is very minor and doesn't really affect the fish at all. Hardness to the extreme of a rift lake or saltwater may definitely be big, but the difference in hardness between the habitats of the neon tetra and the zebra danio aren't that big.

And I for one don't even have a hardness test. When you're not keeping rift lake cichlids or marine, it doesn't really matter.:%)

I have established a school of 7 various Danios including Golden Longfin Zebra, Regular Golden Zebra, Regular Zebra, and Leopard Danios. These Danios lived happily for several months before I introduced 2 Cardinal Tetras (I plan on having more) It's a 55 Gallon tank, and there is absolutely no problem with either getting in each other's way. Again, I think the tank size helps. I probably wouldn't cram them together in a small tank.

i had a load of tetras with danios, and i'd say that as long as the tetras outnumber the danios (which makes them feel more secure around the sligtly more aggressive danios) u should be fine.

[font color="#008000"]Yeah, I've had neons with Danios with no aggression problems. Neons like a bigger school, so I would recommend getting more of the neons.

But it will be fine.
